Obituary of George James Morley

George James Morley, beloved husband of Mrs. Yvonne Morley of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Friday, March 5, 2004 at the age of 77 years. George was self-employed during his working career and operated a retail appliance store in Toronto, ON. After moving to Calgary and during his retirement, he was very involved with many volunteer organizations. He was founding president of the Canadian Aviation Historical Society, now a nationally organized non-profit society with twelve chapters across Canada. He was the founder and publisher of “Strip Scene”, a historical review of comic art. He was also past president of the N.W.M.P. Commemorative Association. George volunteered extensively in Calgary Public Schools, working with children of all ages on comic art projects. He had such a creative soul, he always encouraged others to reach towards their creative potential. He was also the author and director for The Red Coat Puppet Theatre. “Westward Ride the Red Coats” was performed in many schools across Alberta. Besides his wife, George is remembered by his daughter and son-in-law, Roxanne and Philip Anderson of Calgary and their children, Chelsea, Kaylee and Shvonne; as well as his son Darren of Maple Creek, SK.
