In sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Eine, who passed away peacefully at the Rockyview In sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Eine, who passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital into the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. She was born in Ylitornio, Finland ninety years ago and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Mom had a long full life, spending twenty-eight years in Vancouver and twenty years in Calgary. Eine worked as an executive housekeeper at the Georgian Towers Hotel in Vancouver followed by ten years as a full-time volunteer for Canadian Mental Health Association Giftshop. Mother loved her native country of Finland and anything Finnish. She visited her relatives, family and friends there frequently. Eine was a multi-talented, gifted person who loved life and had a sunny personality. We are all going to miss her. She excelled in everything she did, whether it was coaching, baking, sewing, knitting, crocheting, growing flowers, or any other thing. Eine is lovingly remembered by her daughter Ritva (Peter Sr.) Elder; grandson Peter G. (Esther) Elder; great-grandsons, Lee and Ellis Elder; granddaughter Cerissa Elder, all of Calgary; her son Risto (Sharon) Tervo of Kingston, ON; grandson Richard (Nancy) Tervo of Ottawa, ON; brother Mauno (Eila) Viiri of Oulu, Finland; as well as several nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends across Finland and Canada. According to her wishes, there will not be a Funeral Service held in Calgary. Eine will be interred in the family plot in Oulu, Finland where a service will be held. The family wish to thank all of Eine’s friends who visited and called her at Royal Park Carewest and the staff and doctors who have taken care of mom throughout the years. “Mom we miss you and love you” By God’s grace we will see you again!
