Obituary of Marguerite Catherine Christie

Marguerite (Peggy) Catherine Christie of Calgary passed away at the Bow View Manor on Friday, March 5, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Peggy was born April 2, 1919 in Butte, MT, and moved to San Francisco as a young girl. There she earned her RN at Franklin Hospital and met her husband-to-be, Gordon. They were married in 1941 and, as Gordon worked in the oil industry, they moved nineteen times in fifteen years, finally settling in Calgary in 1955. Peggy stayed at home to raise her six children until 1968 when she resumed her career at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. This career was cut short by a debilitating stroke in 1972, however she never let it affect her positive attitude, remaining an active volunteer in her community. Peggy will be fondly remembered for her kind-hearted nature, her dry sense of humour, and her love for her family and friends. She was a positive influence on all those she met, and leaves a legacy of memories. Left to cherish Peggy’s memory are her loving children, Jim and Cheryl Christie, Dave and Johanna Christie, Tom and Sharma Christie, Missy and Paul O?Connor, and Susie and Solon Mah, all of Calgary, and Mike and Molly Christie of Denver, CO,; seventeen grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1981. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Tuesday, March 9, 2004 at 7:30 P.M.
