Obituary of Big Plume

Joseph Lloyd (Indian Joe) Big Plume, beloved husband of Dora Big Plume of the Tsuu T’ina Nation, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Joe was very well known everywhere he went and was very well liked. He served as a Council Member for Tsuu T’ina Nation and had many accomplishments throughout his years as a professional pool player. Joe’s greatest love was his children and grandchildren. Some of his favourite hobbies were the horse races and bingo where he made many friends. Joe also loved horseback riding and hunting. He was a very outgoing and friendly person who would speak his mind when he felt he needed to. Joe will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Besides his loving wife, Joseph is also survived by three sons and six daughters, Gloria Little Light, Frank (Heather) Little Light, Judy Big Plume, Josephine (Mike) Cut Knife, Ross (Theresa) Big Plume, Lena (Gilbert) Crowchild, Betty Buffalo, Beverly (LeeRoy) Meguinis, and Sonny (Lusty) Little Light; and his many grandchildren; and sisters, Debra Big Plume, Mary Simon, Elsie Mistaken Chief, and Bertha Big Plume; and daughter-in-law Frances Little Light; and sisters-in-law, Rachael Big Plume and Florence Crane; also son-in-law Terry Lusty; and friends Fred Patterson, Arnold Ferguson and Wally Nelson. Joseph was predeceased by parents, George and Clara Big Plume; sons, Fred and Bradford; sister Florene Big Plume; brother John Big Plume; and grandson Jordie Buffalo. Wake Services will be held at the residence of the late Joe Big Plume (Tsuu T’ina Nation), on Thursday, March 4, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church (Tsuu T’ina Nation) on Friday, March 5, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. Graveside Service to follow at Tsuu T’ina Cemetery.
