Obituary of Roy Charles Anderson

Roy Charles Anderson, beloved husband of Beverley Anderson of Calgary, passed away at home on Friday, February 27, 2004 at the age of 61 years after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Roy was born May 22, 1942 in Cereal, AB. He spent his early years in the farming community of Cereal. He and his family moved to Grande Prairie in 1959 where he completed his grade twelve education. Roy graduated from SAIT as a Petroleum Technologist and then received his Bachelor of Engineering in Petroleum from the University of Wyoming in 1969. He started his career with Lewis Engineering, but spent most of his career with Mobil Oil Canada, during which he spent four years in Indonesia. Roy retired from ExxonMobil Canada in December 2000, after thirty-four years of service. In his early years, Roy enjoyed curling and then later took up golf. He was a member of the Inglewood Golf and Curling Club. Roy took pleasure in the outdoors, camping and traveling. Besides his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Roy is remembered by his daughters Paula and Kevin Collins, and Patricia and Pierre Floc’h-Anderson, all of Calgary; a grandson Loic Floc’h-Anderson, and his companion, their dog Butler. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Rudy Meinecke of Grande Prairie; a brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Masee Anderson of Edmonton; and father and mother-in-law, Alfred and Barbara Raymond; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barry and Gladys Raymond, Alan and Elva Raymond; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Bill and Edna Anderson, and a nephew Vincent Raymond. Funeral Services will be held at Woodcliff United Church (5010 Spruce Drive S.W.) on Monday, March 1, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Robert W. Mutlow officiating.
