Obituary of Ethel Williams Eagleson

Ethel Williams Eagleson of Calgary, cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully with her daughter and son-in-law at her side, at the Edgemont Retirement Residence on Monday, February 16, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Ethel was born on June 8, 1912 in Leeds, England and came to Canada in 1924 settling in the Calgary area. She was an expert in needlepoint and crochet and continued to crochet baby afghans until a few years ago. She had been a President of the Women’s Auxilary at St. Michael’s Anglican Church for many years as well as a loyal employee of The Bay. Ethel divided her time between her Calgary home, Victoria condo and her cottage in Bragg Creek where she enjoyed her family and friends. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing, and could always be found at the “sing-alongs” at the Edgemont Retirement Residence. Ethel’s favorite place was Banff where she felt the mountains refreshed her spirit. Ethel will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Alex Rodrigues of Calgary; her daughter-in-law Elizabeth Eagleson of Calgary; her granddaughter Cheryl (Don) HachÚ; five grandsons, Steve (Jackie) Pitt, Richard Pitt, Scott (Nicola) Eagleson, Robert Eagleson, and Peter Eagleson; and three great-grandchildren, Mia and Sebastien HachÚ, and Elizabeth Eagleson. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Dave in 1995 and her son Jim in 2002. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, February 23, 2004 at 10:00 A.M.
