Obituary of Edward Richard Schwarz

Dr. Edward (Ed) Richard Schwarz of Calgary, passed away suddenly of a massive heart attack at his home on Friday, January 30, 2004. Ed was born in Edmonton, AB on July 29, 1932. He was a former minister at St Albert United Church, and spent most of his working years as a teacher in Calgary high schools. Ed was an ardent student of history and earned degrees from the University of Alberta, Southern Methodist University in Dallas and Boston University. In 1954 he married Mary Vas of Wrentham, AB. Mary predeceased Ed in October, 2003 following many years of fragile health. Mary and Ed gained great pleasure in their summer home and Lakeview Village neighbours on Lake Wabamun and time spent with their families and “family of friends.” Ed is survived by his sister and brother-in-law Marie and Bill Rollans; their family; and Mary’s family. There will be no Funeral Service but a Memorial Reception will be held in the Alpine Room of The Austrian-Canadian Society, 3112 – 11 Street N.E., Calgary, AB on Saturday, February 14 from 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM.
