Obituary of Bull Bear

Harry (Sa ya ka pai ska pii) Bull Bear of Siksika Nation passed away suddenly at the Strathmore Valley General Hospital on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at the age of 80 years. Harry was a dedicated and hard worker in his early years as a coal miner and farmer, as well athletic in both boxing and hockey. Most of all Harry was a kind, generous and loving dad, grandfather, brother and friend who will always be remembered for his music and humourous ways. Harry was very strong in his spiritual ways and enjoyed being with his family. Harry will be lovingly remembered by his daughter Lorraine (Mike) Stevens; traditional adopted daughters Karen (Stanford) Three Suns and Doreen (George) Wright; grandchildren, Cherylene (Dion), Sherry, Wanda Bull Bear, Stacey (Eric) Many Heads, Quinton (Kirsten) Bull Bear, Trisha (Jason) Cutter, Leslie, Janet, Cora, and C.J.; stepchildren, Blanche (Patrick), Rex (Angela), and Lionel (Colleen) Two Horns; his mother Mary Bull Bear; siblings, Harrison, Robert (Rose),Davis (Marge), Rosalyn (Wayne), Joyce (Ken) Jones, Horace (Celeste), Wanda (Bruce) Calf Robe, Audrey Bull Bear, and the mother of his daughter, Irene Bull Bear. As well as relatives from Siksika and Tsu T’ina Nations, the Stimsons, Eve Yellow Old Woman and family, Olds, Red Guns, Runners, Eagle Tail, Big Plume, Big Crow, Starlight, and Meguines families; numerous nieces, nephews, and great-grandchildren. Harry was pre-deceased by his father David Bull Bear, his mother Alice (Jack) Gunny Crow; siblings, Celina, Christie, and Francis (Gabby); adopted children, Delphine (Rhumba) Cutter; grandchildren, Dion (D.J.) Bull Bear and Sheldon Cutter; as well as special friend Gerald Weasel Head. The Bull Bear family apologizes for anybody missed. Wake Services will be held at Siksika Nation Community Center, on Wednesday, February 4, 2004 at 6:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held at Siksika Nation Community Center (Siksika Nation, AB) on Thursday, February 5, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
