Jodie Bruketa

Obituary of Jodie Marie Bruketa

With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our beautiful daughter and sister, Jodie Marie Bruketa. Jodie was born in Calgary on July 19, 1975 and passed away suddenly in her home on January 23, 2004 as a result of diabetic complications. Jodie was the beloved daughter of David and Debbie; beloved sister to Jason and Jeff (Kris); granddaughter of Mary Bruketa; life-long friend of Stacy Breslawski; and special godmother to Grace Bruketa. She leaves to mourn, a wealth of family and friends, all of whom will miss her dearly. Those that knew her will always remember and cherish her kind heart and beautiful soul. The deep compassion she felt and warm love she displayed towards others was unparalleled. A graduate of the University of Calgary, Jodie earned a Bachelor of Communications Degree with Distinction in 1998. She worked as a Marketing Assistant at South Centre Mall for five years and most recently enjoyed great satisfaction in her position at Holt Renfrew. Her gracious smile and pleasant nature lit up the store. Jodie had natural presence and unknowingly, with the greatest level of humility, could capture the moment in any gathering. She was always a lady. Jodie loved music, was a terrific writer and a natural-born poet. She found great peace and comfort in these things. We all appreciated and loved her sense of drama, humour and wit. This was the essence of Jodie. She was also a wonderful listener. Her caring and non-judgmental manner made her so. Jodie liberated others by listening and putting their needs ahead of her own. Above all, Jodie was always proud of her family and friends and devoted to their well-being. Our dearest Jodie, we will always be so proud of you. In twenty-eight short years you made this world a kinder and warmer place. You will live in our hearts forever.
