Obituary of Dorothy Lillian Chisholm

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dorothy Lillian Chisholm (nee Clark) of Calgary on Friday, January 23, 2004, following a short illness, at the age of 78 years. Dorothy was born on May 14, 1925 on the family farm in Bowden, AB to Freda (nee Rainer) and H.R.A. (Bert) Clark. She was a vibrant and caring person who devoted her life to her family and friends. Dorothy’s favorite quote was “Live well, laugh often, and love much” and she practiced this philosophy every day. She was a great Mom, wonderful Mother-in-law, super Grams, and a favorite “Auntie Duff”. Dorothy’s passion was growing colorful flowers in her garden. Her recent purchase of an SUV was heavily influenced by the fact that she could easily load many flats of flowers in the back hatch. She made friends quickly and kept those friendships for a lifetime. Dorothy was a regular participant in bowling at the Calgary Winter Club, she golfed at Confederation Park every summer, and enjoyed having coffee and conversation, and playing bridge with her wide circle of friends. She died as she lived – at a fast pace. Her sudden illness took us all by surprise, yet we feel blessed that she was healthy until she went to the hospital less than a week ago. Dorothy will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Wynne Chisholm and Don and Patti Chisholm; her much loved grandson Jamie Gordon Chisholm; and numerous other family members. Dorothy was predeceased in 1990 by her loving husband of forty-four years, Gordon Chisholm, her half-brother Spurgeon, her sister Kay May Janssen, and her brother Graham Clark. Funeral Services in celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Thursday, January 29, 2004 at 12:30 P.M.
