Obituary of Magnus Gudlaugur Magnusson

Magnus (Mike) Gudlaugur Magnusson, beloved husband of Doris of Redwood Meadows, AB passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Born on November 2, 1919 in Lundar, MB, Mike moved to Winnipeg at an early age. He married Doris in 1938 in Winnipeg and they had recently celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary. Mike served with pride as a pilot in World War II in the RCAF and he retained many wartime friendships through the Air Crew Association in Calgary and Winnipeg. Mike retired from Moore Business Forms after a lengthy career which took him from Winnipeg to Saskatoon, Regina, Calgary and finally retiring in Redwood Meadows, where they resided for the past twenty-six years. He was very active in the Redwood Meadows community and served in many positions. Mike was an avid golfer and curler and enjoyed woodworking throughout his lifetime. Mike is survived by his loving wife of sixty-five years Doris; their children, Al (Dora), Norm (Delene), Tom (Linda), Brian (Mary) and Sandra (Stacy) Smith; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Joy, Ruby, Violet and numerous friends and relatives. Mike was predeceased by his brother Gus Sigurdson.
