Obituary of Catherine Mary Kitlar

Catherine (Cathy) Mary Kitlar (nee Melander), beloved wife of Mr. Donald Andrew Kitlar of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 at the age of 48 years. Catherine was diagnosed with a terminal cancer three months ago and her remarkable grace and courage will forever be etched in our hearts. Catherine was born at home in Moose Jaw, SK on February 8, 1955 where she was raised. Later, she lived in Vernon, BC where she was married. She then made a home in Calgary where she raised her children while helping to build and run a family business. She was a very devoted and loving wife and mother. Catherine loved to spend time with family and friends. She also spent as much time as she could in nature – camping, hiking and bike riding. The protection of the environment was always of great importance to her. Besides her loving husband, Catherine’s memory will forever be cherished by her three daughters, Christine, Michelle and Cheryl, all of Calgary; father Reuben Melander; step-father Erling Peterson; brother Bob Melander (Roberta); and sister Ruth Melander. Cathy will also be sadly missed by her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother Emma Melander and brother-in-law Dave Kitlar. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 2:30 P.M.
