Obituary of Donald Lindsay

Mr. Donald Robert Lindsay, beloved husband of Mrs. Pearl Lindsay of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the age of 89 years. Donald was born November 29, 1914 in Strome, AB and was raised there as well. He farmed with his dad and uncle and had a special way with horses. He met Pearl Jaschke there and they were married in 1943, moving to Calgary that same year. Donald joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for three years during WWII. In 1947 Donald began working for the Alberta Brewers Agents, from where he retired in 1978. He took up golfing after his retirement and enjoyed curling as well. Donald had been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for thirteen years and was a member of Wild Rose United Church. Besides his loving wife Pearl, Donald is survived by a son Stuart; two daughters and one son-in-law Deanna Lindsay and Shelley and Doug Henderson; two granddaughters Tracy (Don Campbell) and Leah Lindsay; three great grandchildren Danielle, Darrell and Kaitlin all of Calgary. He is also survived by a sister and brother-in-law Mary and Harold Fraser of Medicine Hat. Donald was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law John and Pearl Lindsay. Funeral Services will be held at Wild Rose United Church (1317 – 1st Street N.W.) on Thursday, January 22, 2004 at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Linda Hunter officiating.
