Obituary of Cecile Girard

Cecile Girard passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at the Mount Royal Care Centre, dear sister of Anita Hare and George Girard, both of Calgary, John B. Girard of Fairfield, CT and Richard Girard of Edmonton, AB. Since arriving in Calgary, from Edmonton in 1946, Cecile has lived in the Mission and Connaught districts where she knew “everybody” and had made many friends. She was associated with the Odeon and Uptown Theatres for ten years, then at (AMOCO) BP Canada Energy Company for twenty-two years. Cecile was an avid golfer and was among the first ten golfers who joined Willow Park in 1965, she enjoyed playing there and enjoyed everyone’s company for thirty-one years. She will also be remembered by her “special family”, Dr R. Landis Hare, Cap Rouge, QC; Lenda Vettese, Santa Monica, CA; Jocelyn Longmore, North Vancouver, BC; Jennifer McMurray of Calgary and her Godchild Alana Broomfield of Edmonton, AB; and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (1307 – 14th Street S.W.) on Friday, January 16, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Edmundo Vargas, Presider.
