Obituary of Emma Fleming

Emma Fleming passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2004, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers, at the age of 94 years. Emma was born in Valley City, ND on May 17, 1909 and moved as an infant to Robsart, SK, where her family homesteaded. She later worked in the Cypress Hills area where she met Clarence (Joe) Fleming. They were married in 1937 and moved to the farming community of Brooks, AB, later retiring in 1969 into town. Emma was a member of the FWUA and a charter member of the Royal Purple. She spent the last few years in Calgary at Beaver Dam Lodge and Carewest Sarcee Nursing Home. She is survived by two daughters, Joanne (George) Haleschuk and Marlene (Wayne) Clark; three grandchildren, Tracey (Spilios) Kousinioris, Dana Clark and Chad (Abbie) Clark; four great-grandchildren, Alexandra, Jade, Zoe, and Preston. Emma is also survived by her brother, Elmer (Mary) Amundson of Maple Creek, SK; her half sister Ruth (Lloyd) Erikson of BC; two sisters-in-law, Vicky and Molly; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Clarence (Joe) Fleming in 1981, her sister Theresa Campbell, and her brothers Sam, Ralph, and Oscar. She will be sadly missed by her family and the many friends whose lives she has touched.
