Obituary of Van Nuenen

Mary Helena Van Nuenen of Calgary, passed away at the George Boyak Care West on Tuesday, January 6, 2004 at the age of 96 years. Mary was born July 1, 1907 in Tilburg, Holland, the daughter of Jacobus and Nicolasina Foesier. The family immigrated to Canada in 1917 and homesteaded in the Munson district. In 1932 she married and moved to Calgary where she has resided since. Besides raising a family, she entered the labour force during World War II, and was active in Netherlands social service clubs, and in later years in lawn-bowling circles. She was also employed at the Holy Cross Hospital in the capacity of Unit Clerk for nine years. Mary was especially proud that her birthday coincided with Canada’s. Mary is survived by two children of her first husband, Dr. John Teunissen of Winnipeg and Helen (Larry) Mason of Calgary; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her first husband John William Teunissen in 1954; her second husband John Baptiste Van Nuenen in 1989; her daughter-in-law, Dr. Evelyn Hinz in 2002; three brothers Piet, Cornelis (Nels) and Jacobus (Jack). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Inocencio C.
