Obituary of Mary McIntyre

Mary Margaret McIntyre, beloved wife of Bill McIntyre of Calgary, passed away at the Foothills Hospital on Sunday, January 4, 2004 at the age of 76 years. Mary was born May 9, 1927 in Winnipeg, MB, where she grew up. She obtained her Bachelor of Home Economics from the University of Manitoba. Mary began her Internship at the University Hospital in Edmonton, and later moved to Calgary working as a Dietician at the Sanatorium in Bowness. While raising three children, she obtained a Bachelor of Education Degree and also completed her Masters while teaching Food and Nutrition at Henry Wise Wood High School. For twenty-seven years Mary enjoyed a very successful and rewarding teaching career. In 1971 Mary and Bill met and they were married the following year. Mary was a Past President of the Gyrette Club of Calgary. She acted as a dedicated volunteer for the Calgary Stampede for twenty-four years, serving as the Chair of the Kitchen Theatre Committee. Mary was a member of the Glencoe Club, and a long-time member of Living Spirit (Riverview) United Church. Her passion for music was exemplified in her participation in the West Side Seniors Choir and the West Side Ladies Choir. Mary and Bill always enjoyed time with their friends and travel on their own. Besides her loving husband Bill, Mary is also survived by her children, daughter Kathy Cameron (Murray) of Langley, BC, daughter-in-law Zahra Coulter of Calgary, son John McIntyre (Rhonda Trundle) of Calgary, daughter Susan Busser (Paul) of Calgary; nine grandchildren, Arnie and Heidi Rotenburger, Ken, Yasi and Andrea Coulter, Christie and Allison McIntyre, Jennifer and Kaitlyn Busser; and brother Mac Pearston. Mary was predeceased by first husband Ken Coulter, a son Ken Coulter, and daughter Karen Coulter.
