Morton Wyne

Obituary of Morton Harold Wyne

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our dear husband and father, Morton Wyne, on Friday, December 26, 2003 at the Foothills Hospital in the arms of his loving family. Mort was born in Edmonton and lived his adult life in Calgary. Mort’s passion was his family, each member of which he loved beyond description. He had many interests, including professional sports, travel and golf; but his major focus was always to use these interests as an opportunity to enjoy time with his family and with his many dear and lifelong friends. Mort was a special man, one who touched the lives of all around him and made them better. He was never happier than when enjoying success of a family member or friend. He was the Founder and Managing Partner of Financial Management Ltd, one of Canada’s largest and most successful independent life insurance and financial planning businesses. His clients’ concerns became his own and he advocated ceaselessly for them. Mort was a wise man and shared his wisdom willingly with his business associates. He understood the importance of giving to his community and worked tirelessly fundraising on behalf of his favorite charity, Foothills Academy in Calgary. He was a man of great optimism and hope and the courage with which he faced his final illness will inspire us forever. Besides Mort’s loving wife and best friend of twenty-nine years, Brenda, he is survived by his children, Danny, Jillian and Nicole; his brother Melvin (Phyllis); his mother-in-law Jean; his sister-in-law Bev (Bob); his brothers-in-law, Brian (Linda) and Bruce (Robin); and his special brother-in-law and wonderful friend Calvin. He is also survived by his nephews, Brian (Darcey), Richard (Jennifer), Lorne (Helena), and Robert; his nieces, Shari (Bruce), Kelly (Dave), Kristine (Brent), and Keaton. Mort was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Anne. Funeral Services will be held at the Beth Tzedec Synagogue, (1325 Glenmore Trail S.W.) on Tuesday, December 30, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. Internment to follow at the Erlton Street Cemetery (30 Avenue and Erlton Street S.W.) following the service.
