Obituary of Yvonne Girard

Yvonne Girard passed away at the Agape Hospice on Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the age of 79 years. It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our beloved Yvonne. She was born in Chauvin, AB, then lived in Wainwright, AB before moving to Calgary in 1956, where she worked in women’s fashions for Country Club Casuals, Holt Renfrew and seventeen years at Sears – Chinook Centre. Yvonne was a member of the CWL for fifty-five years and a past president. She will be sadly missed by her many relatives, friends, neighbours and many acquaintances. It is sad to say goodbye, but it gives us great joy to remember her great hospitality, welcoming smile, her beautiful flower gardens and her enjoyment in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Yvonne is survived by her beloved husband, George, of fifty-seven years, and two daughters Anita and Charmaine, as well as five grandchildren John, Lynn, Pamilla, Carey-Ann and Patrice, and her four great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her three brothers George (Edie) from Cultus Lake, BC, Raymond and Armand (Florence), both from Edmonton. Yvonne was predeceased by her mother and father, Henriette and Edward Cyre, and her brothers Paul, Victor, Eugene, Gilbert and Lucien. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, December 11, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. with the Very Rev. Gregory Coupal, V.F., Presider.
