Mary Leiske

Obituary of Mary Anna Leiske

With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Mary (Suelzle) Leiske on November 26, 2003 in Airdrie, AB. Born on September 17, 1908 in Emery, SD, Mary immigrated to Alberta in 1910, where she grew up, married and raised a family in the Beiseker community. Adored wife of the late Sam Leiske, Mary was a true “pillar” in her community. From milking cows by hand and churning butter, feeding the threshing crews, to singing at community events and hosting strudel feeds – Mary’s life was one of caring and commitment to everyone who encountered her. The crocheted booties for the newest baby to the lovingly hand-stitched quilts for the Dorcus Society, demonstrated her vibrant energy and the joy she found in her hard-working lifetime. A gentle strength forever buried in the hearts of those who knew her. She will be sadly missed but forever treasured by her children, Larry and Robbie Leiske, of Desert Palm and Wayne and Gail Leiske, of Beiseker. Lovingly cherished by her grandchildren, Ryan (Nadine), Kelly (Richard), Kerry (Greg), NoraLynn (Glen), and Kevin (Christie) who she loved, laughed, taught, and nurtured. And also by her nine great-grandchildren. Mary’s strong faith in God will be remembered at Services being held at Beiseker Level Land Seventh Day Adventist Church, (9 miles East, 1 mile South, Beiseker, AB), on Friday, December 5, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. Graveside Service to follow at Beiseker Level Land Seventh Day Adventist Church Cemetery. To forward condolences go to www.mcinnisandholloway.com. We shall mourn her passing but Celebrate her Life.
