Condolences
Yesterday I was saddened when I was informed by Maria that Mike had passed away in June. I have known Mike since he took over Sandro’s restaurant. The Rea family were always so welcoming and passionate about their family business. Mike will truly be missed by numerous people but remembered for his love of life and family. My thoughts and prayers are with Maria, Maria, Alfredo and Mike’s family.
Catherine and I offer our sincere condolences to Michael’s family. Michael was a respected member of the local restaurant community and really understood quality food and service. We spent many fine evenings at Rea’s (and Sandro before that) with him at the helm, always tempting us with new dishes and his spicy bullets. His passing is a great loss.
Our deepest condolences. Mike was such a fun loving spirit. Always looked forward to seeing him at the restaurant. He will be deeply missed. Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go out to the family. Wishing them strength through such a difficult time.
Mike and Sandra Festa and family.
My condolences for your loss.
My Prayers are with you.

John and I are still in denial about this tragic news. Our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family every single day to find the strength and love to move forward with this recent void. Mike has touched so many lives with his witty and cheeky humour and there is no doubt that this is what attracted people to him to receive their daily dose of life’s medicine. We love you all so much and continue to pray for your strength and peace.
We are so very sorry to hear of Michael’s passing. We’ve all had the blessing of knowing Michael for many years, as well as having enjoyed his wonderful welcoming humour (and, of course, his superb culinary abilities) on those occasions we attended the restaurant. Michael will be sorely missed.

Dear Rea family,
We are so very sorry to hear of the passing of your dear Michael. Our hearts are breaking for you.
When Brenda’s brother Jim and Jeanni introduced us to Sandros so many years ago, we were delighted to find not only a fantastic place to dine, but a warm, fun family to enjoy our meals with. Mike’s sharp wit was hilarious!
When Jim died we were heartbroken. Now, though we miss him still, the sharp pain has been softened by time and by the sweet bouquet of memories.
Through this terrible time may you find strength in the love and support of family and friends. Know that our hearts are with you.
And…may your garden of sweet memories of Michael help you find comfort and peace. With all our hearts we pray for you all.
John & Brenda

We were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Mike’s passing. We have been going to the restaurant since it was Sandro’s, and over the years have been made to feel like old friends whenever we come in for lunch or dinner. Mike’s welcoming grin and quick humor have been appreciated as much as the wonderful food on these visits, and we will miss him very much. Our heartfelt condolences to the Rea family, wishing you God’s comfort and strength.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of this extraordinary man. Mike wasn’t only a boss to me while working at the Ramada in the early 90’s, he was like a big brother through those awkward teenage years. His sense of humour, sheepish grin and warm, welcoming eyes made going to work a joy. It was comforting to find, that years later when I found him successfully running his own place, he hadn’t changed and continued to welcome me and my family with open arms.
May you find strength surrounded by family and friends through this extremely challenging time. Peace, Love & Light. Karina Berrade Valleau (& all of the Berrade Family) xox
To the Rea Family;

We are so very shocked and saddened about the devastating passing of your beloved husband, father, son, brother, uncle and dear friend to so many. Mike and your family have been such an important part of so many of our family’s celebrations over the decades now. You all made us feel like part of your gorgeous family. Mike’s sense of humour was always something we looked forward to — his stories and anecdotes always made us laugh — a delightful aperetif to the always fabulous food.

I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing , he was such a kind and thoughtful man. He will be missed . I know for certain that we never lose the people we love, even to death. They continue to participate in every act, thought and decision we make. Their love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories. I am so sorry for your loss and will miss Michael immensely
Our family was devastated at hearing the news of Mike’s passing. Rea’s has been such a huge part of our lives – our girls grew up going there for almost every celebration. Whenever asked where they wanted to go for dinner, a birthday, etc., it was always Rea’s. Mike and his staff were always so accommodating and welcoming. We couldn’t begin to thank them enough for this. (And very few people could make us laugh like Mike could:) Words cannot express how sorry we feel.

We had the wonderful blessing of meeting Mike & his family when he first became owner of Sandro’s. As many others, we loved how welcomed he made us feel over the years to the point that quickly the Rea’s became ‘family’. We certainly celebrated many weekly & celebratory dinners over the years. Early on whether regularly or casually, my husband and sons were part of the Sandro’s & Rea’s staff team extraordinaire and absolutely loved getting to know Mike and his family! How wonderful to witness his kindness, his love of family/friends and his humor was second to none!!
We were so very heartbroken to learn of Mike’s death and it’s true, words cannot express how sorry we feel. Nancy, Dario, Mikaela, Matteo, Dante, Maria, Maria, Anna, Alfredo & extended family….please accept our sincere condolences.
Hi Nancy,
I am deeply saddened to hear about Mike and his recent passing. He is an amazing person who I will always remember with great fondness. When I think of Mike I remember his smile and sense of humour. He always handed out the biggest chocolate bars at Halloween (as per Elliana) and is sadly missed already. If I can ever be of any service, please do not hesitate to ask.
May our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ take care of Mike and your family, he will always be remembered and never forgotten!!
Mike, Victoria and Elliana
My deepest condolences go out to the entire Rea family. I am so sorry for your loss and completely in shock. I had the great pleasure of knowing Michael over the years dining in his restaurant; always accommodating when the restaurant was full and not to mention the complimentary liqueur after dinner :-) It was obvious the clientele were family to him. Such a wonderful person with a smile that lit up the room. You will be sadly missed Mike. May you rest in peace, God bless. Pamela
To the Rea extended family, our deepest sympathy and we’re sorry for the sudden passing of Mike. He will be greatly miss by family, friends, and many patrons of his restaurant. RIP Mike.
Mike will always be remembered for his friendliness, kindness and wit. May God give him eternal rest and the family the strength to bear the great pain. My most sincere condolences.
To the family,
We are so very sorry to hear this sad news. We enjoyed many moments at your restaurant and were always treated like family by Michael. He was so genuine and brought much laughter and quick wit to any conversation. He will be missed by many, including us.
Our sincere condolences,
Angelo & Hana Mancuso
Prayers go out to Rea family. I don’t claim to have known Mike well, but many of his qualities show up in his wonderful children. Traits that I recognize that he passed onto his children are; a sense of humour, a love of family and friends, the love of sports, and the fact that others would gravitate to them. They make other people feel better and from what I understand about Mike, that was important to him. I know the closeness of the family will get them through this difficult time. Kathy, Dario, Mikaela, Matteo and Dante- please know you will have many from the GS community praying for you.
We were both shocked and devastated when we heard of Mike’s passing. We were introduced to Rea’s a few years ago by good friends, the Greco’s, and it has been our ‘go-to’ since then. Whenever we wanted to celebrate a special occasion or get together with loving friends, Rea’s was always the first choice. Mike and all the staff at the restaurant are always warm and welcoming. We can relate to Mike’s ‘quick insults’ or funny moments to put a smile on his customers faces – I was privy to many of them (insert big smile). We will surely miss his face the next time we come in. Our sincerest condolences.
We have so many memories of Mike and all the good times at the restaurant.
Condolences to the Rea Family.
Nick, Heather, Rachel and Giancarlo Profeta

Our thoughts and prayers for the Rea family
We were regular customers at the restaurant for over 20 years and we always joked with Mike, I always called him Mickey which I know he hated and he always would say put extra parsley on my food!!
Our daughter grew up on the wonderful cuisine first at Sandro’s and then at Rea’s.
We hadn’t been in the last couple of years because we moved away, however I still recommend the restaurant to everyone.
RIP Mike, the world is a sadder place without you in it
Bill, Olympia and Chelsea Burnham

Everyone at Scarpone’s .
My sons and I are extremely saddened and in denial that Mike is gone. Mike looked after me like a big brother, worried who I was seeing because they weren’t good enough haha! Mike and Nancy invited me and my boys over on several occasions, whether for a fire, a family dinner, a grad party, or a football game, they always included us. Always a joy to be around and his humour was awesome! Always a gentleman! When we had celebrations as well, the go to place was most definitely Rea’s. I have several pictures and memories of all of them! I will be here for you still Nancy, Dario, Mikaela, Matteo and Dante for anything. Thank you for letting me in your family and allowing me to be a part of so many events. I love you all and we will all miss Mike so much. Out hearts are with you and remember Mike would want you smiling and joking around! ❤️ You truly are a wonderful family! Xoxo Love Cheryl, Jesse, Levi and Jacob
Our deepest sympathy to the Rea family, Maria was a customer of mine years ago and would tell me about her brothers restaurant, that I should try it, but “make sure you have a reservation”, she would say. Rea’s has always been our go to restaurant for a special night or when people come to visit, because of the family atmosphere that Michael and family created.
Our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
God Bless

Donna and I were deeply saddened to hear of Michael’s passing and somehow the world seems a little darker now. Our deepest sympathy to Nancy, Dario, Mikaela, Matteo, Dante, Alfredo, Maria, Mama and the whole Rea / Preston family. As we all go through our daily lives, every once and awhile, if we’re lucky, we cross paths with someone who enriches our lives just by being who they are. Michael was just such a person. His quick wit and caring nature always brought a smile to your face and brightened your day. Michael truly was a man among men and he will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him. At times like these, words always seem wholly inadequate but please know that our thoughts and hearts are with you all at this most difficult time. God speed Michael.
My heartfelt condolences to you Nancy and your family. I didn’t know Mike that well but he always had a smile and friendly, quiet “hello” whenever I saw him at the rink.

To All in the REA Family. We have known Michael for about 20 years, every since BRC set up shop in Pockar Park. For almost all of those years, the BRC Christmas party was held at Rea’s.
