Obituary of Lloyd Alfred JEFFRIES

October 27, 1935 – Dodsland, Saskatchewan May 16, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Lloyd Jeffries of Calgary passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2017 at the age of 81 years. Lloyd grew up on the farm in Smiley Saskatchewan area and went on to start his long career in the oilfield beginning in the Coleville area with Imperial Oil in the early 1950’s, transferred to Oxbow/ Estevan area where he started a family and concluding his career in 1998 with Paramount Resources. Lloyd enjoyed playing music starting as a young lad with his sisters at local dance halls. He continued on with his music until 1975. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing and golfing. Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Survived by his three children, Bradley (Claudia), Trenton (Terra Snyder) and Janice (Duane Berday) Jeffries. Lloyd leaves behind six grandchildren, Jacqueline Jeffries, Justin Jeffries, Taylor Jeffries, Brennan Jeffries, Trevor Sawatzky, Daniel Berday as well as five great-grandchildren, Brayden, Kolbe, Kaylin, Jaxson and Madden. Lloyd is also survived by his siblings, Hazel Fletcher, May Uhrich, Murray Jeffries and Rita Auchstaetter. He is predeceased by his parents and his brother George Jeffries. A special thanks to Lloyds caregivers Richard and Prabin. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Deerfoot South, 12281 – 40th Street S.E.) on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the funeral home. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations are sent to a Western Canada Separatist Party.
