Obituary of Anola Claudette APPELHOF

June 16, 1941 – May 15, 2017 Anola Appelhof passed away peacefully on May 15th, 2017 surrounded by her loving children at the age of 75. Anola grew up on a dairy farm east of Coaldale, AB with her parents and 5 sisters. She was a member of the 4-H club, sang in her church choir and played the piano and violin. She attended nursing school in Lethbridge and during her studies she met a Dutch boy named Harry. They fell in love and were married soon after her graduation in 1962. Together they had 4 children. At the age of 31 she was diagnosed with MS which quickly confined her to a wheelchair. With her undying faith and her determined spirit, Anola continued to live a full life. She loved to cook and bake for her family and challenged anyone to match her Scrabble skills. She also volunteered many hours at the Glenmore and Royal Park gift shops, which she thoroughly enjoyed. More recently she took up painting. Above all, Anola lived for her family and will be greatly missed by her 4 children; Cheryl (Michael) Crothers, Susan Appelhof, Beverly (Darryl) Stewart and Kevin (Michaela) Appelhof; and by her 12 grandchildren, Siobhan (Ben), Meghan (Sean) and Evan (Annie), Tristan and Calysta, Kyle, Justin, Jessica and Kianna, Cassandra, Paige and Kirah. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Audrey (Axel), Irene, Marilyn (Ken), Carol and her extended family. Anola is predeceased by her husband Harry; father and mother; and sister, Norma. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Royal Park for their care and friendship towards Anola. The residents and the staff were a big part of her life. Donations may be made in Anola’s memory directly to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada. Funeral Services will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the church.
