Obituary of Dorothy G. SHIELDS

July 26, 1925 – Neepawa, Manitoba April 26, 2017 – Calgary, Alberta Dorothy Shields, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 91. Dorothy was born, grew up and met her beloved husband Paddy in Neepawa, Manitoba, a place that she forever held dear to her heart. Dorothy, alongside her husband moved to Calgary in 1960 where she built a community of lifelong friends through her volunteer work with Calgary Blood Services, her participation in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian choir and involvement in the Calgary Rotary club. Throughout her life Dorothy travelled extensively around the world including an annual trip to her beloved Maui. Dorothy’s sense of humour and passion for life led her to a life full of love with her family, friends and community that she so dearly cherished. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters, Carol Costa (husband Claude Costa), Bonnie Gibson (partner Keith Stein) and Marion Lapwood (husband Merv Lapwood), her five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dorothy was predeceased by her loving husband Paddy (Ernest) Shields and her two brothers and two sisters. A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (703 Heritage Drive S.W.) on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the church.
