Obituary of Lynn William NEWMAN

1926 – 2017 Lynn passed away peacefully on Wednesday February 15th, at the Mckenzie Towne residence, just shy of his 91st birthday. Lynn was born on February 22, 1926 and spent his whole life in Bowness. He was a true historian of the community. Not one to venture too far from home, Lynn was happiest in his own backyard where he kept bees, gardened, bird watched, and worked in his garage. Lynn started his electrical career with a small contractor and later joined the Alberta Government as an electrical journeyman and served there for thirty-two years. He will be lovingly remembered by his son John (Sherry); daughters, Laurie (Jack) Whittaker and Carol (Mark) Heathcott; cherished grandsons Cody (Scarlett) Resch, Scott (Stephanie) Whittaker, John Whittaker; Nick and Alex Heathcott and great-granddaughter Eva Resch. Lynn was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, and his brothers Don and Stan. Our family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the McKenzie Towne Residence for their care and compassion. At Lynn’s request there will be no service. In Celebration of his life, a tea will be held for family and friends on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at the Bowness Seniors Centre, 6422 – 35 Avenue N.W., from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made directly to the Bowness Historical Society, 8907 – 33 Avenue N.W. Calgary, AB T3B 1M2. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
