Condolences
The Family: I Sincerely regret being unable to attend the Service for your Mother today. Catherine was an untiring supporter of all of the Bow Valley Schools and became an enduring support during my few years at the High School. Like few others she knew and understood the learning needs of the Youth in Her community and she was a relentless force in resolving them. It was an Honor to know and to work with Her. Hopefully consideration may be given to naming an learning facility in Her Honor. Respectful Regrets Len Ross
We too send our condolences to your family. I remember my early days as a teacher in the CBE..Catherine was the first School Trustee I met. She was always so very kind to me. She fought for things she believed in and was relentless. She was a huge influence on language education in CBE.
Clem and Cheryl: our special thoughts to you. We remember you and your daughters who attended Queen E with our son . Kind thoughts to you and yours.

Nic, Olivier and Clem, I was thinking of your mother this morning and wondering how she was. This afternoon, I received the news that she has passed away. I am so sorry for your loss. Although dementia has taken its toll for some time, it is still a great sorrow when our loved ones leave this life. I remember your mother as a fantastic story teller. She spent many an hour sharing them in our kitchen and I loved listening to them. Reading these condolences today, I learned that she was one of the group that built our wonderful library that I used almost daily as a young child. I loved her spirit. She taught me that nothing is impossible. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families.
Your family were such great neighbours! I have many many fond memories of “Mrs.Martini” …..weekly trips to the downtown library, ice fishing in Feburary, making root beer, camping trips to the badlands including looking for fossils and counting bats, and I will never forget tasting canned whale blubber! She made the world a better place for many! My thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve your loss.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Although I was young when I was living in Bowness, I remember her and your family fondly. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Rita Seibert (Exner)
I remember knowing at a very young age, how strong a woman she was. My love.
I remember your dear Mother with joy, she was so witty as a School Trustee. Your Mom was part of that special Bowness group of people who were determined to make Bowness a great town. The loyal group built their own library with donated books in the 1950’s. I remember my God Father Jim Nicoll visiting our home in his quest for children’s books. I was the youngest child so it was my job to make the selections as to what to part with. I learned later that when the city took over the Bowness library Mr. Castell was greatly impressed with inheriting the unique collection. Your Mom will be remembered for her wonderful contributions to the City of Calgary. She was proud of being a graduate of the University of Life, the Public Library. God Bless you All
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Your mother was one-of-a-kind and someone who I am grateful to have known. My thoughts are with you. Pete Exner
