Randolph GRADISHAR

Obituary of Randolph Walter GRADISHAR

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ralph, at the age of 83 in the comfort of Agape Hospice. Ralph was born and raised in Calgary, a city he called home for his entire life. In his early years, he was actively involved with his children’s sports teams in the Thorncliffe Community Association. He played golf, enjoyed pool and always had an opinion on politics. He also loved major league baseball, football and especially cherished betting on NFL games with is grandson Sean. Horse races and periodic visits to a local Casino were also favourite special outings. Knowing about the achievements of his children and grandchildren was very special to him. He always looked forward to his weekly dinners out with his son-in-law Steve. Ralph was a master printer, beginning a long career at Continental Can Company. During his employment, he was in a variety of leadership roles with the Union and frequently represented Alberta at its international conventions. When the company closed its operation in Calgary, he sharpened his skills and worked for the remainder of his career at the Energy Resources Conservation Board. After being diagnosed with lung cancer in early July, he never faltered. He was surrounded by loved ones during his battle, enjoying the extra time he spent with his grandson Sean, as well as his son Michael and his daughter-in-law Catherine during their regular visits from Victoria, BC. Ralph was predeceased by his wife Marlene (Gradishar) and his son Randy. He is survived by his daughter Marla Cohen (Steve), his son Michael (Catherine MacLachlan) and his grandchildren Sean Sutherland, and Larissa and Elizabeth MacLachlan. Special thanks to Deborah and Albert Krygier, Patti and Garth Marrale, Doreen Armbrust and Debbie Kniss for their frequent visits. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to his family physician Dr. Kilian, her staff and the exceptional, caring staff at Agape Hospice. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
