Condolences
Dear Sharon and family
Although this is late, I was deeply saddened to hear that Dave had died.
You probably won’t remember me but Dave and I were classmates; good friends at U of C. We shared a myriad of experiences together ...........most included humour too.
Both of us were a few years older than the other Engineering students so it was logical for us to hang together. We were officially categorized by the Faculty as “mature students” although to many this was just contradiction; an oxymoron.......like “military intelligence” or “bank service charge” or “your call is very important to us”
Dave was gifted with a keen, but slightly bent sense of humour which I so often appreciated. To me his most memorable quirk was a propensity to have his hair cut short whenever the outside temperature dropped. The lower the temperature the shorter would be his hair cut. At - 40 a ton of scalp was visible
Dave and I spent a lot of time together studying, catching some rays or just enjoying a beer at the students lounge.........good times to be sure.
Whenever I was feeling down or insecure about school or about one of my many “less than stellar”exam results He was always there to cheer me up.
Dave was a loyal supportive steady friend and I shall miss him.
I wish to express my deepest sympathies to you and your family
Sincerely
Bill Hargrave
We were shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of a truly great friend, we had some real fun times together on and off the field, he always had the best goatee!
Our condolences to you and your family Sharon.
Til we meet again my friend.
I was very sad to hear of the passing of Dave. I played a lot of ball with Dave and knew him well. I always called him “King David” I did not know that his middle name was Stanley. The same as mine. My condolences to Sharon and the family.
A great person, friend and Ballplayer whom I always enjoyed, no matter what. Will miss the conversations that were always interesting. Rest in peace Dave. We will remember You. Arnie Stang, Calgary Slow Pitch.

Hello Dave. I hope you can read this wherever you are. I’ve been reading the condolences being sent in your memory with all of the nice things being said about you. It’s a shame we didn’t say them more when you were with us. This is a great reminder for us all to be a little more forthcoming with not just our families, but with our friends as well. I’m not sure you will remember this when we were playing ball with Grey Power, but you threw the ball when I wasn’t looking. Fortunately it was a lousy throw and you missed me. Well, I’m throwing it back at you, so “heads up!” And, my aim is true because on that ball and in my memory are the engravings of all the good times we had. You will be missed. Thanks, Dave!
Dave, you will be missed but never forgotten. We have so many wonderful memories with you and Sharon and the Grey Power ball team that brought us all together. We all made so many lasting friendships. Sincerest Condolences to you Sharon and your family.
Dear Sharon and Family: Jim and I were so sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. He was such a wonderful person, always a smile on his face, a kind word and a big hug forthcoming when we would meet. We were so privileged to know Dave and you too Sharon, and grateful for the memories of the wonderful times we spent with you over the years in Calgary and St. George. Little did we know when “Grey Power” started up that the players and their wives, significant others would be such a big part of our lives over the years. Such treasures to hold dear, Love to you and your family,
Please accept my very sincere condolences. Dave was one of the first players to welcome me to the Calgary Senior Ball League. Throughout the years he always took the time to stop and chat about the state of our game. Some truth and lots of exaggeration because that’s what ball players do. Good times. Good Laughs. Dave will be missed.
To Sharon and family I could, not believe my eye,s as I read this A.M.,s paper…what a sad day..a great guy to play ball and share my jokes with..we will miss him. Our condolences from the John Landry family…
We were so sad to hear about Dave’s passing. He was a great guy who always had a kind word and smile for all. He played many years for our Jet teams at Triwood, always the team player, encouraging all of us to have fun and enjoy the games. He talked me into going to St George for the senior games 16 years ago. and he played on some teams with us down there as well and was always welcoming to us at the parties and get togethers in Mesquite. No one personified the way our Triwood League should be better than Dave, having fun playing ball and enjoying each other’s company, at the games and the beer or two after !
Sharon, we offer our sincere sympathy to you and your family.. He will be missed by all of us.
