Obituary of Doreen Ada BERGFELDT

March 1, 1941 – Quill Lake, Saskatchewan November 16, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Doreen Ada Bergfeldt, beloved wife of Malcolm, cherished mother of Wendy (Don), Cheryl and Heather (Cam), and adored grandmother of Mal, Tait, Kate and Sarah, passed away November 16th surrounded by family. Doreen was born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan to John Lemuel “Archie” and Mildred Haggard. She grew up in Lemberg with six other children in a home filled with love and a sense of fun. With the support of her family she attended The Regina Teachers’ College when it first opened in 1960. Her career as an educator lasted more than 30 years, starting in a two-room rural schoolhouse in the Chickney District to the Wynyard Elementary School where she retired in 1995. She and Malcolm ran a family farm outside of Wynyard, raising children, volunteering in the community and (no one knows how she found the time to do this) completing her Bachelor of Education Degree with Honours at the University of Saskatchewan. She and her husband travelled in their retirement years, wintering for almost a decade in Yuma Arizona, before finally settling into their retirement home in Airdrie, Alberta in 2005. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 am at Airdrie United Church (212 1 Avenue NE, Airdrie, AB, T4B 0R4) followed by a reception at the Woodside Golf Course (525 Woodside Drive NW, Airdrie, AB, T4B 2C6). Internment will be in July 2017 in Wynyard, Saskatchewan.
