Obituary of Marguerite Elise DIMMER
September 11, 1921 – London, England
August 24, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta
Marguerite Elise Dimmer of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the age of 94 years.
Marguerite joined the Army at eighteen, worked in a factory, worked as a nanny for many years and was a housewife and mother to three children. In her spare time, Marguerite enjoyed knitting, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. She was an active member of Southwood Senior’s Club and of St. Peter’s Anglican Church. She regularly donated to various charities that were close to her heart. Marguerite was proud to have survived the war, of having three beautiful children and of becoming a Canadian citizen in 1998. She will be remembered for keeping a positive attitude no matter what life threw her way. If her life could be summed up in three words they would be family, faith and generosity.
Marguerite is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Richard Manning of England and Susan and Gordon Vanier of Calgary; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Jennifer Dimmer of England; grandchildren, Nicholas Manning (Vicky) of England, Clare Dimmer of England, Jon Manning of England, Alan Dimmer of England, Neil Dimmer (Sinead) of England, Kevin Vanier, and Megan Rupert (Kellen) of Calgary; and great-grandchildren, Elsie Manning, Kyle Dimmer, Charlene Dimmer, Libby Manning, Max Dimmer, Leanne Dimmer, Zoe Dimmer, and Sam Rupert.
Marguerite was predeceased by her loving husband of forty-six years, Cecil Edward Dimmer in 1987; her parents, Ernst and Marguerite Alice Harzenmoser; siblings Josephine Hayward in 2013 and Ernst Harzenmoser in 1934.

God saw you getting tired; the cure was not to be so He closed His arms around you and whispered “Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watch you and saw you pass away and although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove us, he only takes the best.
In living memory of Marguerite Dimmer, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek
