Obituary of Victor FISHER

Victor, beloved husband of Elfriede Fisher of Calgary, passed away on July 4, 2016 at the age of 98 years.
Vic was born in Bridgeland, Calgary to Anna Marie (Holzstein) and John Henry Fisher. When Vic was 10 years old, he moved to Bottrel, AB. along with his parents and brothers (John, Fred and Albert). In 1947 he purchased his own land from Peaburn Ranches. The land was just west of the City (now it is 53rd street) where he established a landscaping business and built his own homes. Always a gardener, Vic loved to plant huge vegetable gardens. He sang as a bass voice in choirs for more than 40 years. Vic was proud to be a member of the Germans from Russia group. His life was guided by his faith in God. He was an avid follower of Jesus as was expressed in his daily life.
Victor is survived by his wife Elfriede (Wilms), they married in 1972 and together they were blessed with 3 children and 5 grandchildren; Tamara (James) Avery and their children Nathan, Kira and Jaida, Jonathan (Jennifer Francis) and their child Oscar, and Timothy (Edith Pineault) and their child Hans.
Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Cochrane, 369 Railway Street, Cochrane, AB), on Thursday, July 07, 2016 from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be held at Foothills Lutheran Church (3104 – 34th Avenue N.W.) on Friday, July 08, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
