Obituary of Margaret WILKOWICH

June, 24, 1928 – Montrose, Scotland May, 23, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Margaret Wilkowich beloved wife of Wally Wilkowich of Calgary, passed away peacefully in the arms of her husband on May 23, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Known by her family as “Nana”, she was born in Montrose, Scotland on June 24, 1928 to Arthur and Isobella Carr Duguid. She immigrated to Canada with her parents when she was a year old. Her formative years were spent in Selkirk, Manitoba. Margaret and Wally started their relationship as neighbours at the age of 6, attended the same schools, became friends, then sweethearts and married in their home town Selkirk on September 29, 1951. A union that they enjoyed for 65 years, yet the friendship was over 82 years. Her family was her biggest priority in life and she dedicated herself first to her children and then to her grandchildren. Her first thoughts were always to the well-being of others. She will be lovingly remembered for her generosity and caring. She spent many enjoyable days with her children, grandchildren and the dogs Arnie and Macci. She also loved to spend time dancing. Margaret was the oldest child of five. She is survived by her husband, Walter; son, Kim and daughter in law, Barb; grandchildren, Riley, Rory and McMillan all of Calgary; her daughter, Loree and son in law, Glenn and grandchildren, Piers and Perrie of Sheparrton, Austrailia; her sister, Irene Couture of Selkirk, Manitoba as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her bothers, Arthur, Bruce and Gordie. “God saw her getting tired, The cure was not to be. So He closed His arms around you And whispered “Come with me.” With tearful eyes we watched her Suffer and saw her fade away, Although we loved her dearly, We could not make her stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hardworking hands to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.” The family would like to thank Dr. Darrel Eliason and the compassionate, caring staff of Unit 1200 at the McKenzie Towne Care Centre; also Doctors K.
