Obituary of Ian Gordon SMITH

SMITH, Ian Gordon July 11, 1929 – Delburne, Alberta May 23, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sadness that the family of Ian Gordon Smith announce his passing on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the age of 86 years. Ian worked at Bapco Paints for thirty-five years; It was there that he met his beloved wife, Frances, whom he married in 1954 and had three children with. After retirement, Ian and Frances built a home in Christina Lake, B.C., where they spent many happy years together. He took great pride in his home and garden, in Christina Lake, which he lovingly built alongside his son, Dan, and many other relatives. Many happy memories of the summers in Christina Lake will be fondly remembered by Ian’s children. Ian is survived by his sons Bill and Dan (Julie); daughter Tammy (Karl); granddaughters Alyson (Frank) and Kerry; brother Jim (Lou); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Frances; his sister Alyce; and brothers Archie and Ron. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, May 30, 2016 at 2:00p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
