Obituary of Lila GRANT

It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Lila May Grant (formerly Lila Berry and Lila Broz) on May 5th 2016 at the age of 55 years. Her body gave up on her leaving her with a very short and unfinished life. Lila was a woman with a very big heart and truly believed there was goodness in the world despite the challenges she’d faced in her life. Tenacious was often a word used to describe her. When she set her mind to something there was nothing that could stand in her way, and she would blaze through obstacles as though they didn’t exist. Lila started her career in sales where she excelled as a top seller. Often described as a woman who could “sell a ketchup popsicle to an old lady wearing white gloves”, she sold Kirby Vacuums and Watkins for many years to provide for her family. She then moved on to open her own massage therapy studio as helping people was very important to her. She loved gardening, animals and cooking for her friends and family, she was passionate, and truly creative. She will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, kindness, generosity and willingness to help others. While her passing devastates us, we are so grateful to have had her in our lives for the time we did. She will be forever loved and will always hold a special place in our hearts. Lila is survived by her mother Sharon Altstadt and Sharon’s husband Raymond Altstadt; her step mother Lynda Broz; her two children Jessica Broz and Chad Berry; siblings Wally (Walter) Broz, his wife Anna Broz; Bruce Broz, and his wife Stephanie Broz. She is also survived by her nephews Jared, Brandon, Nicholas and Tyler Broz. She also leaves behind many friends including close friends Don, Kate, and Nicola. Lila’s father Keith Broz passed away in 2001. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells 2720 Center Street North) on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 3:00p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Following the service will be a celebration of life reception until 6:00pm. As Lila always believed in paying it forward, any donations received by the family on Lila’s behalf will be donated in her name to the Calgary Interfaith Foodbank. In living memory of Lila Grant, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: 403-256-9575.
