Obituary of Jean-Pierre Kamel

September 19, 1947 – Cairo, Egypt May 9, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Dr. Jean-Pierre Kamel, beloved husband of Caterina Pascuzzo, and father of Thalia, Jelisia, and Alexia, suddenly passed away on May 9, 2016 at the age of 68 years. He was born September 19, 1947 in Cairo, Egypt. He graduated from the University of Alexandria Faculty of Medicine, and then immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1977 to complete his residency at the University of McGill. He married Caterina Pascuzzo on December 28, 1985, and they moved to Calgary, Alberta in 1997. His family practice flourished, simply because he was loved deeply by his patients. His multilingual capabilities allowed him to connect with various ethnic groups. He was not only their physician, but their father, brother, mentor, and friend. He always lived his life to the fullest. Dr. Kamel’s most memorable moments are his annual family vacations around the world with the LeBoeuf family. Every person that met him was touched by his humor, kindness, and love. He made everyone feel like his home was their own. His energy and laughter were contagious. There was no challenge he could not overcome. He had a tremendous passion for serving the underserved. His love for people and helping everyone around him was one of his best qualities. In fact, this inspired his three daughters to become doctor’s, and he always celebrated them as his life’s greatest accomplishment. He was truly one of a kind; there will never be another person like Dr. Jean-Pierre Kamel. Besides his loving wife, Caterina Pascuzzo, Dr. Jean-Pierre Kamel is survived by his three daughters, Thalia, Jelisia, and Alexia; his sons-in-law: Danny Akl, and James Kakish. He is also survived by his sister, Natalie Moulière and her husband Mario Canello; his soul brother Bertrand LeBoeuf, and his sons Maxime and Mathieu. He is predeceased by his parents, Thalia Tsiricas and Emile Galandoulis Kamel. Relatives and friends are invited to prayers on Friday May 13, 2016 at 7:00 PM at Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive SW Calgary). Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Saint Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church (1 Tamarac Crescent SW Calgary).
