Obituary of Raymond Martin FLAIG

Raymond Flaig, born November 24, 1925 died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Walden Heights Seniors Community in Calgary following a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Ray was born in Hilda, Alberta, the third child of Emanuel Flaig and Rosina Ruff. After serving in the Canadian Army in WW2, Ray studied drafting at SAIT and was employed on graduation by Shell Canada where he worked for thirty five years becoming head of the drafting department until his retirement. He was a genuine renaissance man, who had a wide range of interests including woodworking, skiing, music, travel, golf, art, stained glass and, mostly, enjoying his grandchildren. Ray designed and built his own ski chalet at Panorama, BC where the family enjoyed many holidays.
Ray will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Vilma; sons, Douglas (Helen Timmons) and Myles (Gina) of Calgary; his grandchildren, Ian (Jillian Gora) of Toronto, Elliot, Alessia and Declan. He will also be lovingly remembered by his surviving sister, Ida Heinz of Armstrong, BC. He was predeceased by his sister, Bertha Logan and brother, Lloyd Flaig and his son, Gordon Flaig.
