COOKE, Margaret Jean April 20, 1939 – Leven, Fife County April 22, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Jean Cooke, Mum/Mimi passed away peacefully 2 days after her 77th birthday after bravely enduring ALS. Jean was born in Leven, Scotland and moved with her family to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1953. She met and married her husband, Don Cooke in 1959 and started their family shortly thereafter. Don and Jean moved to Calgary in 1970 and lived in their Altadore home for over 35 years before relocating to North Glenmore. Jean loved volunteering and instilled that dedication in all of her children. Jean devoted her life to her family and surrounded them with love, baking, sewing and gardening. Her gardening legacy will live on through all of her children and friends and will blossom every spring when we celebrate an amazing lady. Jean is survived by her children Jeff (Lana), Janis (Paul), Sheryn (Brent) and Steve, her grandchildren Taylor, Adam, Courtney & Connor and all of her “Grand-dogs”. Jean was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Don, in 2009. Our deepest gratitude goes out to Sue, Leslie, the ALS Society of Alberta and the ALS Clinic at the South Health Campus. We’d like to extend a special thank you as well to the staff of Emergency and Unit 66 at the South Health Campus for your compassion and care for Mum; you were all like an extension of our family.
