Obituary
Obituary of Helen McLauchlan Muir WOOLNOUGH
August 17, 1945 – Kilmarnock, Scotland
April 23, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta
Helen passed away April 23 and left this earth with dignity and grace – the same manner with which she lived her life.
Helen came to Edmonton in 1967 as a young woman and stayed in Canada to marry Michael, the love of her life and her best friend, in 1968. They had two children, Gillian (Peter) and Cameron (Jennifer) who gave them four lovely grandchildren – Zoe, Finlay, Chloe and Hailey. Helen and Michael would like to thank Gillian and Cameron for their unconditional love given unselfishly both night and day during her illness. Since retiring in 1998 Helen took up golfing, cycling, skiing, snowshoeing and many other outdoor pursuits, all in the company of Michael. She was also an avid painter and keen gardener who enjoyed her garden to the fullest. They also travelled to many countries together.
Helen will be lovingly missed by her sister-in-law Sally (Cam); her brother-in-law Gerry (Liz) and many nieces and nephews living in both in Edmonton and Calgary. She is also survived by her brother Peter (Janice) of Edmonton; and sisters Jean and Sandra (Terry), both living in Scotland. Close friends June and Cathy gave Helen many years of friendship and daily support especially since November 2015 when Helen was first diagnosed with cancer. The Woolnough family would also like to thank their close friends in Alberta and across Canada, who regularly gave great support when it was most needed.
