February 26, 1938 – New Westminster, British Columbia April 23, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta William Barron of Calgary passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the age of 78 years. William was born on February 26th, 1938 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, to his parents, Victor John Barron, who was born on November 11, 1910 in Lithuania and Anne Mary Barron, born on January 10, 1914, also in Lithuania. William is survived by his daughter Cassandra Barron (Derek Melrose); his sister and brother-in-law Anne and Floyd Derkat; his brother Dennis Barron; his nephews Bruce (Debora), Brent (Sheila), Myles; and his niece Denise. William enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, tennis, golf, curling and cycling. His love of sports found him volunteering for different charity groups: helping at the Canadian Brier, a shuttle driver at Spruce Meadows and working at major golf tournaments hosted in Calgary. William enjoyed playing chess, checkers, cards, and backgammon. His passion was researching family genealogy. In the summer months, over the years, he enjoyed our “Wilf Carter” camping weekends with family and friends. One of his favorite summer activities was to cycle or take his scooter for a spin in Fish Creek Park. William’s greatest joy in life was his daughter, Cassandra. He was so proud of her and her accomplishments. His wish is that her life is filled with happiness. “I’m tired – but it was a great run! I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.” In keeping with his wishes, a private family gathering will be held at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
