Obituary of Douglas Kent KINASCHUK

KINASCHUK, Douglas Kent June 14, 1948 – Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan April 14, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Douglas Kent Kinaschuk died peacefully in Calgary, Alberta on Thursday, April 14, 2016 with his loving family at his side. He had a brief, yet valiant, confrontation with cancer. Douglas was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on June 14, 1948 to Edythe and Frank Kinaschuk. His loving wife and best friend, JoAnne, and his beloved children—Brandon, Kyle, Clarke, David, and Nicola—survive Douglas, and they will always affirm his memory and life. In his wake, Douglas leaves behind his cherished granddaughter, Quinne, as well as his daughter-in-law, Geralee. Also, Douglas’ older brother, Don, alongside his children—Brett, Kent, and Jill—smile upon the time of his life and reanimate his being through memory. Douglas’ long-time friend, Tim, and Douglas’ dear puppy, Murphy, sorely miss his company. The purest joy of Douglas’ life was found in the companionship of his wife, his boys, and his granddaughter, Quinne. Doug was unequivocally proud of his children’s accomplishments, and he was especially pleased by their politeness. Douglas was the most generous and gentle of beings, and his capacity to comfort, endear, and give was—and will remain—unparalleled. Douglas knew better than anyone else the pleasures, rhythms, and joys of conversation, and he spoke to every other as if they were a precious friend—regardless of their relation to him. Above all, Douglas said yes to life. Douglas loved and lived with infectious intensities—a storyteller and a benefactor. The world ended in the moment of his death; however, his friends and family promise to revive his life and allow him to live on within them—in and through memory. In living memory of Doug Kinaschuk, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Fish Creek, 14441 BANNISTER ROAD S.E. Telephone: 403-256-9575.
