Obituary of Luella Joyce STAYSKO

November 9, 1929 – Redcliff, Alberta December 27, 2018 – Calgary, Alberta Luella “Joyce” Staysko of Calgary, AB passed away on December 27, 2018 at the age of 89 years. Joyce and her husband Bob loved to travel, enjoying several trips to Jedburgh, Scotland to visit with relatives, followed by tours of Scotland, Wales, and England. A special highlight was a visit with their son Robert Jr. and family in Muscat, Oman. They saw most of the Canadian provinces as well as much of the United States. Joyce ranked Las Vegas and Hawaii as her two favourites. Joyce and Bob lived for three years in Trinidad, West Indies after a transfer by Chevron (Standard) in 1952, travelling with Robert Jr. and David in tow. Stephen was born during their residency there. They returned to Calgary in 1955 and lived out their days there. She was loved, and will be forever loved by her family. Joyce is survived by her three sons and their spouses, David (Nena), Robert Jr. (Sharon), and Stephen (Mia); seven grandchildren and their spouses, Ryan (Alana), Michael (Colette), Robert, Nicole (Andy), Travis (Stephanie), Andrew and Nolan ; and was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Mylah, Ryker, and Huxley. Joyce is also survived by one sister Joanne Hill of Medicine Hat, they were life time best friends. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of sixty-five years, Robert Francis Staysko; her parents, Thomas and Isobel Balmer of Redcliff, AB; and her siblings, Martha (Palmer) Huckle, Betty (George) Christie, John (Frieda) Balmer, Thomas (Ellen) Balmer and William (Isabella) Balmer; and her brother-in-law Earl Hill, all of the Medicine Hat, AB, and Redcliff, AB, area. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Spirit Catholic Church () on Friday, January 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Church. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff at Revera McKenzie Towne who assisted Joyce for five years after Robert’s passing as well as the staff at Bethany Riverview Long Term Care Centre for their kindness and attention to Joyce’s needs in her final months.
