Obituary of Jim LEBLANC
February 11, 1944 Yarmouth, N.S.
March 27, 2016, Okotoks ,AB
James Benedict LeBlanc (Jim) went to be with his Lord on Easter Sunday morning, March 27, 2016.
He was a lesson to all of us on how to accept with peace, grace and kindness the path set before him. Many people love the song “What a Wonderful World”, it was Jim’s favourite too, but he truly lived and believed the meaning of the words. Jim is survived by his wife Myrna, son Jeff James LeBlanc; sister Ann Labatte; brother David (Ginny); sister Linda Marcano (Rawlin). Jim was born with the “happy gene” in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia on February 11, 1944. Jim loved his childhood in Dundas, and often reminisced about his friends back east that he kept in touch with. Jim was an expert skier and enjoyed a bachelor’s life while skiing most of the mountains in North America. He always liked to challenge himself, such as bicycling from Calgary back to Dundas for a “visit” in 1977. Always the athlete, Jim played football and coached hockey in his youth with the Kinsmen. After meeting his future wife at the Calgary Ski Club, and starting a family, he traded his skiing in for biking, roller blading and racquetball. He played for over 30 years with the Thorncliffe Racquetball Club and spoke fondly of the wonderful friends he met there. He sincerely enjoyed people, which was why he stayed in parts sales for most of his career. Jim was a spiritual man in later years and was an avid reader and well versed in the various spiritual theologies. He lived his faith and made many sacrifices over the past several years in caring for his wife through her health challenges. Myrna and Jeff will always be thankful that they were blessed with such a gentle and caring husband and father.
