Obituary of Joyce Darling SCHOFIELD

SCHOFIELD, Joyce Darling May 22, 1928 – New Liskeard, Ontario March 16, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Joyce Schofield passed away peacefully on March 16, 2016 at the age of 87 years. Joyce was born in New Liskeard, Ontario and raised in Elk Lake, Ontario. Her teaching career began in 1948 in a one room school. Joyce taught every grade from K – 12 in Elk Lake, Sarnia, Vernon and finally Calgary. While in Calgary she taught a full art program at Milton Williams Jr. High and Queen Elizabeth Senior High. Joyce loved her family, her garden, painting, skiing, fashion, hosting and decorating for her dinner parties and most of all a fine glass of wine. She was never one for a dull routine and loved to be on the go. Her lively intellect and love of the outdoors were an inspiration to all. Her grandchildren were the joy of her life and she cherished every minute with them as they grew. She was thrilled to live long enough to see her precious great grandsons. She was tenacious, fiercely independent to the end, a devoted friend and always willing to help anyone. She was happiest when our cabin was full or her house in Calgary was filled with friends and family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years John, daughters Maureen (Abe) and Margo and son Michael; grandchildren Isaac (Melissa), Sarah (Niall) and Ben; great grandsons Lucas, Jacob and Logan. We will miss her but know she is finally at peace.
