Obituary of Helen Jamieson MCINNIS

1926 – 2016 At the age of 89, Helen McInnis (nee Sutherland), a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, left her family with a lifetime of memories and sage Irish advice. A Saskatchewan girl born in the “Queen City”, she married her high school sweetheart Don, upon his return from WWII. With an independent spirit, “the Colonel” enjoyed being an active member of the Glencoe Club and Scarboro United church, Sweet Adelines choir and various other volunteer groups. Despite falling to the debilitating disease of dementia, her independent spirit, sharp wit and unwavering love for her family will always be remembered. Helen was a loving mother to Rod (Judy), Carol (Mike Major), Cindy (Phil Swift), Mike (Brenda); grandmother to Trevor (Vicki), Krista (Ian), Jamie (Janice), Margot, Morgan, Gabe, Duncan, Logan, and Colin; great-grandmother to Abigail and Hanna. A private family service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
