Obituary of Akira MASUDA

June 5, 1927 – New Westminister, British Columbia February 20, 2016 – Calgary, Alberta Akira (Aki) Masuda, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Aki graduated from the University of Alberta with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering. He worked for Hudson’s Bay Oil & Gas for over 25 years, rising to the position of Vice President of Production before retiring in 1984 from Dome Petroleum. Dad was an avid golfer, fisherman and skier. After retiring, he joined the Bearspaw Golf and Country Club where he was able to get out for 18 holes almost every day for many summers. Besides his loving wife Misae, Aki is survived by his children, Jean (Larry Henderson), Kim (Dan McCormack), and Jay (Chen Tee Chong), all of Calgary; and grandchildren, Alexandra, Cam, Jacqueline, Jocy, Nick, and Ethan. He is also survived by many extended family members. Aki was predeceased by his daughter Naomi; and his siblings, Edith (Gorge) Kosaka, and Jimmy (Nobuko) Masuda. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow after reception at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
