Obituary of DE KLERK

Henk de Klerk passed away with his wife by his side on February 13, 2016 at the age of 87.
Henk was born April 15, 1928 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He married Janna (Ann) Van Geemen in 1950 and the couple immigrated to Regina, Canada in 1953. Shortly after, Henk and Janna settled in Calgary in 1956, where Henk lived out the remainder of his life. Henk worked at the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) and served as a volunteer member of the Montgomery Fire Department. In 1974, Henk started his own company, de Klerk Electric and after 19 years, retired in 1993. His company continues under his two sons and four grandsons. His retirement years were spent volunteering at the food bank, camping and fishing, tinkering on little projects, and enjoying his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Henk was the loving husband to Janna for 66 years and beloved father of Henry (deceased) – wife Ann, Bill (Lucinda), Peter (Audrey), Michael (deceased), Ron, and Ray (Carol). He was also the cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to 14 grandchildren (and spouses) and 25 great-grandchildren: Michael and Bobbi-Jo (Gabriel); Lorilee and Byron Danser (Brynn, Ainsley, Leah); Sheila and Mark Shellborn (Faith, Isaac, Autumn, Joel); Michael; Michelle and Jeff Bates (Lane – deceased, Emily, Alyssa); Jessica and Jeremy Holt (Cameron, Brett); Ryan and Nicole (Jason, Paige, Nolan); Jeff and Naomi (Eize, Owen, Ayanna); Nathan and Nancy (Haley, Dylan, Kara, Ashlee); Robert and Kristen (Robyn); Natalie and Caleb Havens (Charlotte); Chris and Francki; Zachary; Kelsey.
Henk also leaves behind many loved ones in Canada and Holland, including his sister Riek Van Duseldorp and he was predeceased by siblings Joop, At and Ida.
A Celebration of Henk’s Life will be held at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church (2111 – 52 Street N.W.) on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
