Obituary of Peter Hideo HORI

January 1918 – January 2016 Peter Hori passed away at the Beverley Care Centre here in Calgary, Alberta. Peter was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia and lived there with his family until WWII broke out. He was sent to an internment camp in the interior of the Okanagan Valley, where he married his wife Caroline Aiko Kobayashi. They later moved to Hamilton, Ontario and he worked in a banana warehouse to support his wife and daughter. They later moved to Calgary, Alberta where they ran a little grocery store. After several years he sold the store and went to work for the Calgary Co-op. He was a Produce Manager for the #1 store and eventually retired from the Co-op. After retirement he and his wife enjoyed playing golf and they travelled on bus trips throughout the U.S. and Canada. He was a member of the Calgary Co-Op Association and the Calgary Japanese Kutaboki Club. He was preceded in death by sisters Yoshi, Dorothy, Rusty and brothers Tom and Frank. He is survived by his daughter, Rose (Doug) of Denver, CO., brother Bob of Regina and sister Chris of Calgary, as well as a number of nieces and nephews in Calgary and across Canada. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice. No koden. There will be no services as requested by Peter. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
