Obituary of Diane WATKINS
September 6, 1941 – January 15, 2016
On Friday, January 15, 2016 Diane embarked on her peaceful journey from this world with her loving family by her side. Diane was born Sept 6, 1941 in Ottawa, Ontario to her father Clifford and Gertrude Dalgliesh.
As a child Diane travelled throughout Canada with her family as her father was in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Diane sadly suffered a great loss at 18 to her mothers passing and continued to feel this loss her entire life. She often spoke and prayed to her mother during happy and troubled times of her life. After travelling Diane decided to reside in Calgary, where she met and married her husband Thomas and they happily welcomed three beautiful children. While raising her children Diane decided to work loyally at the Royal Bank as a teller for more than 10 years. Often they tried to promote her but her love was to help and talk with her clients she would see on a regular basis.
Diane’s love of helping other people lead her to her passion for learning and becoming a holistic practitioner where she flourished helping others heal and grow. Diane was a great conversationalist and loved people and interaction with all people and this was rewarding for her. Diane was a true sports fanatic, with her favorite teams being the Calgary Flames and the Toronto Blue Jays. She would often watch with enthusiasm but preferred her team to have large leads as opposed to close games so she could finish watching without anxiousness. Her commitment as a mother to her children and grandchildren was filed with love, patients and loyalty. As a mother her family came first teaching us that life was full of enjoyment and challenges. As a loving mother she never hesitated to give her loved ones advice or help and always did it with integrity. Diane always faced her life challenges with unparalleled hope and optimism and she never wanted to be as she put it “modillion”. Mom was a very patient, giving, loving mother and often lived her life for her children. There will never be a day that her presence goes unnoticed but her love and grace will be in our hearts and memories forever. Diane will be loved and cherished by her children Michael (Mary), Janice, and Andrea (Michael). Grandma will be deeply missed by Stacey, Graham, Meghan and Justin. Her brothers Terry, and Robert (Jessica) and her nieces and nephew Jay, Allison, Leslie, Kristin and Jenny will always have a special place for her in their hearts.
