Obituary of Gordon Duncan GILLESPIE

Gordon Gillespie (CWO Ret’d RCN) of Calgary, Alberta passed away peacefully on December 15th, 2015 in his 92nd year.
Gordon was a war veteran who served with the Canadian Military over a period of 3 decades, mainly at bases in Hamilton, Halifax, and Greenwood NS as well as on board the HMCS Bonaventure, Quinte, Terra Nova and the Bras d’or Hydrafoil 400 Project. He pursued his love of flying well into his retirement in Greenwood and Calgary. In the early 70s he turned his focus to establishing “The Powerhouse” (a small engine sales and service shop) near Greenwood, N.S. before retiring again in the early 90s after which time he followed his children and grandchildren across the country to Ottawa and Calgary. Throughout his life he spent countless hours participating in charitable activities with the Masons, Lions and also with the Calgary Air Museum on a few projects.
Gordon was born in Hamilton on July 18th, 1924, the son of James and Eva (Colbourne) Gillespie and is also predeceased by his beloved wife of 60 years, Doreen (White) and their infant son Ronald. He will be missed by his brother Roy, daughter Debby (Richard) and son Daryl (Kari), grandchildren Katie and Andrew, as well as extended family across Canada.
