During Bob’s life, he lived in Toronto and Winnipeg before settling in Calgary in 1973. Bob attended Harold Panabaker Junior High School and graduated Senior High School at Dr. E.P. Scarlett. Bob would later attend the University of Calgary to obtain his degree in Civil Engineering. Bob moved on to a very successful career in material testing, beginning with UMA Engineering after university, then onto Almor Testing Services. This led to the start of his own company, M & B Technical Testing Services, with his close friend and business partner Mike O’Connor in 1993. With their combined fifty plus years of construction and engineering experience, Bob and Mike’s company found success, and was a great source of pride to Bob. Bob loved sports; He grew up playing hockey and was an avid downhill skier and golfer. He loved following the Calgary Flames and his beloved Chicago Bears. Some of Bob’s favourite memories involved taking his girls to New Orleans to see an NFL game at the Superdome, or when the hockey season started up, to go to a game with any of his close friends and family. Bob loved to travel and enjoyed many trips including Paris, Mexico, and all throughout the USA with his friends and family. A big lover of music, Bob enjoyed playing the guitar, harmonica, and ukulele in his spare time. He loved classic rock, jazz and the blues. He shared his love of music with his daughters and other family, where many gatherings involved playing in “The Fawcett Garage Band”. Bob was a very philanthropic person. Every Christmas he’d take the time to hand pick and deliver gifts to the Calgary Children’s Hospital, and was involved in the baking group “The Pied Piper Gang” where all the proceeds went to children in need. Bob is survived by Kathy Fawcett, his past wife and forever friend, daughter Sara Furse & her husband Graham, daughter Kaitlyn Fawcett and her significant other Tanner Serwatkewich, all of Calgary, his mother, Sheila Fawcett of Calgary; brothers Wayne Fawcett and his wife Lonnie of Moncton, New Brunswick; Allan Fawcett and his wife Sandra of Calgary, and many nephews and nieces that he loved profoundly. Bob also had many friends through his work and life that will dearly miss his presence, most acutely his close friend and business partner Mike O’Connor. Bob was predeceased by his father Milton Fawcett, his brother Ken Fawcett, his sister Marguerite Jamieson, and his beloved dog Tazzy.
